Ballynahinch Castle and

Golf
There are several golf courses in the area. Locally, and by far
the best course in Connemara, set against the spectacular backdrop
of the Atlantic Ocean with the Twelve Pins in the distance the
championship Golf Course at Ballyconeely is renowned as a challenging
links course and is only twelve miles from BallynahinchCastle.
There are numerous other 18 hole golf courses in the county such
as The Barna
Golf Course, The Galway Bay Course in Oranmore and the Oughterard
Golf Course. The hotel will be happy to make advanced bookings
for tees and confirm the booking for you. Ballynahinch Castle
is located in the heart of the West of Ireland close to some
of the finest Golf Courses in the Country. Within easy driving
distances are the Championship course at Connemara, Oughterard
and Westport.
As well as being within comfortable day travel to the major Golf
Courses on the South and West Coast of Ireland. Such as The Old
Head of Kinsale, Tralee, Galway Bay, Ballybunion and Lahinch.
Pony Treking
Ballynahinch Castle is located in the heart of the West of
Ireland which affords the visitor some of the best scenery and
riding trails in the whole country.
You can ride the local trails across the 12 bens and look at
the impressive local scenery as well as having the opportunity
to attempt some of the best cross country riding experiences
Ireland has to offer.

Hiking
Whether you enjoy a gentle stroll in the country or would like
a more enduring trek, you will be spoiled for choice by the beauty
of the Connemara landscape.
Amble through the beautiful Castle grounds or take a stroll by
the river and back to the log fires burning in the hearth. There
are several walks of varying levels mapped out through the 350
acre Estate. If you are a more experienced walker the Maamturk
Mountains and Twelve Pins are a hikers paradise.
Correct clothing and footwear is required on more difficult outings.
Hikes in either mountain range can be arranged through reception
from the Connemara Walking Centre in nearby Clifden. You can

Fishing
Ballynahinch Fishery is world renowned as one of the finest Salmon
and sea trout rivers in Ireland. Also, Ballynahinch Castle holds
sway over 13,000 acres of prime woodcock shooting held from November
through to the end of January.
