Location
The hamlet of Borthwick is sign-posted at the village of North
Middleton, on the A7 trunk road, twelve miles south of Edinburgh,
just 25 minutes from Edinburgh Airport. The castle is situated
3/4 mile along a country lane which passes the school and Borthwick
church on a private roadway that leads to the castle gates.
Borthwick Castle is ideally
located near Edinburgh and many other attractions including:
Edinburgh Castle, which is visited annually by approximately
1 million people, tours of the City, including The Royal Mile
Tour and the Mary King's Close, a historic underground city and
hidden underground vaults. There are various open top bus tours.
There are pubs one quarter
of a mile away from the castle and one mile away in Gorebridge.
