Activities at Dalhousie
Castle
Your stay at Dalhousie can be as active or as varied as you wish
it to be. We can arrange a number of leisure pursuits including
falconry, archery, sightseeing/touring,
horse riding, golf, fly fishing
or relax in our Spa. Traditional classical Scottish Banquets
are a unique feature at Dalhousie, complete with the Castle piper,
Highland dancing and the fascinating ceremony of the, 'address
to the Haggis.'
Falconry
Opening On the 1st November 2003, allowing guests to take advantage
in the noble sport of falconry in the grounds and setting of
Dalhousie Castle.
Opening Times : The Falconry centre will be open from 9.30am
to dusk every day e including Christmas and New Year
Clothes : You should dress appropriately for this outdoor experience
wax jackets will be provided along with sitting sticks however
footwear should be suitable for the terrain that will be experienced.
Golf
Enjoy the sport of the Kings
You may wish to visit Edinburgh, just 20 minutes drive away,
with its rich culture and stunning architecture or travel north
into the glorious Highlands or cast to the world famous St Andrews
Golf Course.
Touring
Why not penetrate the mysteries of malt whisky production at
the nearby Glenkinchie Distillery or the distinguished craft
of Edinburgh crystal manufacturing. Let us know your plans and
we can give advice on or arrange a host of exciting activities.
Fishing
While staying at Dalhousie
Let us take you fishing to some of Scotland's finest picturesque
Rivers and Lochs, all within a short travelling distance from
the Castle, where the scenery is beautiful and the trout are
hard fighting. We have a good selection of venues, and depending
on conditions and your ability, we will make the right choice
for your day out.
Clothing
Guests should wear waterproof clothing and footwear, and also
have a warm jacket as many people who have visited Scotland before
will know, we can get all four seasons in one day.
Spa
Dalhousie Castle has
recreated the hydro spa, the first of its kind in Scotland, using
state of the art technology, designed and manufactured in Austria,
by combining relaxing and therapeutic Spa treatments with the
invigorating and rejuvenating hydro facilities, AQUEOUS has been
developed to reduce individual stress levels and to improve a
healthy mind.
Features of the Aqueous Spa:
HYDRO POOL
Cleanse mind and body in the Hydro Pool, a beautiful feature
of the spa area. A multi-massage jet pool incorporating an airbed,
neck and specific muscular body massage jets. Designed to relieve
aches and pains leaving one feeling energised and invigorated.
LACONIUM
A Roman style sauna with underfloor and seat heating compared
to the traditional sauna stove heating. The Laconium operates
between 650C 800C, providing gentle heat allowing the body temperature
to rise slowly, to purify and detoxify.
OTTOMAN
A Turkish style steam bath with similar heating principal as
the Laconium. No major fluctuations in heat and the volume of
steam can be varied to achieve different comforting effects.
Aroma essences can be introduced to soothe and relax the user.
Kneipp hoses are provide to cool down the body and stimulate
circulation.
TROPICAL RAIN & COLD FOG
SHOWER
Activate your senses with the Topical Rain and Cold Fog snail
shaped shower and its unique lighting effects. The Topical Rain
incorporate scents of passion fruit and a lighting effect to
induce a feeling of warmth and well being. Cold Fog replaces
a traditional plunge pool, to cool down the body after heat exposure.
A mint scent helps refresh the mind and body.
KNEIPP FOOT BATH
Cools the body's circulation in a sociable setting.
TEPIDARIUM
Enjoy a new feeling of well being in the Conservative Rotunda
Tepidarium, ovevlooking the South Esk River. Relax at you leisure
and enjoy the spectacular view.
SUN SHOWER
An intense and vapid upright sun tanning facility to complete
the feeling and looking good experience.
SPA TREATMENTS
Specifically formulated therapeutic and beauty treatment designed
by Elemis to purify, rejuvenate and nourish the body whilst aiding
complete relaxation.
HAIRDRESSING SALON
A small highly personalised salon, blending into the castle's
medieval structure. The final touch to feeling great!
