Things to Do
The countryside surrounding
Tulloch is magnificent: rich in flora and fauna. See the seals
and cormorants in the firth below and watch out for the dolphins
and porpoise. This a superb area for hill walking, mountain-biking,
beach-combing and forest walks. There are castles and museums,
heritage centres and distilleries, sports centres and art galleries,
all within on hour's drive from here. Loch Ness and Nessie are
not too far away.
For those interested in more sporting activities, there is skiing,
curling, sea, loch and river fishing, wildfowling, stalking,
cycling, yachting, wind-surfing and para-gliding are all possible
in the area. We are particularly rich in golf courses, with excellent
clubs at Royal Dornoch, Tain, Inverness and Nairn - all within
a short drive from Tulloch.
Ghost Tours
All old castles should have a ghost, and Tulloch is said to have
one in the shape of the "Green Lady". Now, just how
green she is, and the details of her existence, we do not know,
but she has been seen over the centuries. A portrait of her hangs
in the Grand Hall.
Where possible we try to arrange ghost tours of the Castle and
describe the history of the Green Lady. Explore the hotel with
Ken or the duty manager as your guide, see the secret passageways,
open the secret doorway in the north-east corner of the Great
Hall which leads on to an old stairway with a door below - a
handy escape route to or from the Castle. |
