St
Andrews New Course
- 18 holes, 6604 yards, par 71 LinksLike just about everything else in St Andrews the word new is something of a misnomer. There is nothing at all new about the New Course. It was laid out by Old Tom Morris in 1895 and originally intended as relief course for the Old which was by then struggling to keep pace with demand. It runs alongside the Old Course and were it not for its close proximity to the most famous course in the world the New Course would warrant a much bigger international reputation than it already owns. Tight fairways lined by thick gorse and whin, subtle greens and four of the most testing par three holes in golf are its hallmarks.
