Honeymoon in Ireland,
explore the heart of Ireland while staying in a selection of
romantic castles. Your tour includes castles dating back to Medieval
times but all offer the most modern comforts along with the warmth
of Irish hospitality and character of their unique history.
Day 1 - Dublin to Barberstown Castle
- Arrive at Dublin International Airport where you will collect
your car before starting out on your romantic journey through
Ireland. 1/2 hour drive . Overnight
at Barberstown Castle
Day 2 - Barberstown Castle
- A full day of leisure at Barberstown Castle where you might
decide to take a drive through the Wicklow mountains to visit
the beautiful Powerscourt Estate Garden or Glendalough, the 6th
century monastic site. You could also spend the day in medieval
Kilkenny. Overnight
at Barberstown Castle
Day 3 - Barberstown Castle to Connemara
- Depart Barberstown Castle to Galway then you'll drive through
the wilds of Connemara to Abbeyglen Castle just outside the picturesque
town of Clifden.
Day 4 - Connemara - Relax in
the informal atmosphere of Abbeyglen Castle or take a drive through
the heather covered hills of Connemara. Return to an evening
enjoying the warmth and fine food at Abbeyglen
Castle.
Day 5 - Abbeyglen Castle to Cabra Castle -
If you didn't stop in Galway on Day 3 you might stop to explore
this morning. An optional route might take you via the quaint
village of Cong - made famous as the setting of the film classic
"The Quiet Man". En route to Cabra
Castle where you stay for 1 night.
Day 6 - Cabra Castle to Dublin - From
Cabra Castle you can visit Carlingford, a town of great character
with narrow streets and medieval town houses located on Carlingford
Bay, or follow in the steps of St Patrick - Ireland's Patron
Saint before heading south through the Boyne Valley stopping
at Newgrange, Ireland's famous prehistoric burial chamber or
stop at the Celtic king's Hill of Tara. Alternatively you could
drive directly to Dublin to maximize your time there. Return
your car to Dublin Airport and take a taxi or Aircoach into the
city centre. Tonight you can take in the music pubs in Dublin's
vibrant Temple Bar entertainment area. Overnight at Mont
Clare Hotel for 2 nights
Day 7 - Dublin -Enjoy a full
day to explore Dublin's Fair City. Be sure to include Trinity
College's famed Book of Kells, the Guinness Storehouse, Christchurch
Cathedral and the Old Jameson Distillery. Drop in at the National
Museum to view the amazing Celtic gold treasures or take a stroll
in St Stephens Green. Stop for lunch where some of Ireland's
famous writers once dallied and shop for those quality Irish
woolens, Waterford crystal and Belleek pottery along Nassau Street.
Tonight you might enjoy attending an Irish night or take part
in a pub walk.
Day 8 - Depart from Dublin
Airport - make your way by coach or taxi to Dublin Airport for
your flight home.
