A unique self drive tour
that allows you to explore the highlights of Scotland while staying
in a sampling of historic castles. Scotland is one of the world's
most romantic destinations and an ideal country for that 'special'
trip, whether it is a honeymoon, wedding anniversary, birthday
or other special occasion. We have selected some of the most
intimate hotels in quiet and secluded areas.
 Days 1 & 2 Arrive in Edinburgh
and check in at the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel . Your days in Edinburgh
are unstructured, allowing you to explore our capital city at
leisure.
Possible sightseeing: the Old Town with the Castle, the Royal
Mile , the Palace of Holyroodhouse. 2 nights in Edinburgh at
Macdonald
Holyrood Hotel.
 Day 3 Visit Perth, former Capital of
Scotland, beautifully situated on the River Tay. You may enjoy
a visit of nearby Scone Palace. Continue into Royal Deeside and
Balmoral Castle, the highland residence of the Royal Family before
reaching Maryculter House in the heart of the the Grampian Mountains.
Overnight at Maryculter House
 Day
4 & 5 Continue along the Whisky Trail, many of the famous
Malt whiskies are produced in this region. Opportunity to visit
a distillery and sample the final product. On to Inverness, the
'Capital of the Highlands', before arriving at your most northerly
castle - Tulloch
Castle at Dingwall.
 Day
6 Follow the shores of Loch Ness, where you may see legendary
monster from the viewpoint at Urquhart Castle. Continue to Fort
William at the foot of Ben Nevis the follow the West Highland
Way south to Loch Lomond - turning east to Airth
Castle to stay for 2 nights.
Day 7 Day at leisure. Today
you might choose a cruise on Loch Lomond or perhaps visit Stirling
with its imposing castle. Overnight at Airth

Day 8 Your tour concludes after breakfast with your return to
Edinburgh Airport where you return your
car before departing.
