Cuisine and Castle Walk
Why not join us at one of these exclusive weekends and enjoy
two great pleasures in life good food and walking in the beautiful
contrasting scenery of Somerset.
One of the days will take us
to the highest point on the Mendip Hills, after visiting a 11th
Century working water mill where the flour is used to make bread
at the Castle Hotel. Another walk will take us to the undulating
terrain of the Quantocks visiting Cothelstone Hill where we have
360 degrees of magnificent views over Somerset and the Bristol
Channel. On the last day of this special weekend we walk on the
Somerset Levels along the banks of the river Parrett and along
part of the well known long distance path the Macmillan Way.
We go through many pretty Somerset villages and as a final treat
we visit a traditional cider farm at Burrow Hill, famous for
its Cider Brandy and aperitifs. Here we will have the opportunity
to taste the cider, apple juice, and the delicious aperitifs
made from apples grown on the farm. You will be staying at the
Castle Hotel, which was once a Norman fortress and has been welcoming
travellers to the town of Taunton since the 12th Century. One
of the AA's top 200 hotels is located in the heart of England's
beautiful West Country and its restaurant has won many prestigious
awards, which includes a Michelin Red Guide - 1 Star and is one
of the top 20 eating-houses in the country. After a day walking
you will be able to relax and enjoy a gourmet meal in the Castle
Restaurant and savour the tastes of Somerset's local produce.
